UK - DTS Raptors and Evo fixtures for the first time bring the skies of Northumberland alive with stunning results. With an 18,000 strong crowd awaiting the eruption of the local fireworks, they also for the first time waited with anticipation for this year’s spectacular lighting display. Five DTS RaptorS were mounted not only on a large commercial vessel but on the ship's helicopter pad to enable the production of aerial displays never seen before in Blyth. Another landmark of the town’s harbour was illuminated for the event; Blyth’s old historical lighthouse was reinstated with the help from a single Raptor. Full advantage was taken of the limitless pan rotation to create an unforgettable sight. Back on firm ground the DTS Evo fixtures delivered stunning effects across the bow of the ship and along the Starboard side of the covering the ships metal structures with rotating gobos and colours. The Evo fixtures suited perfectly for this job, providing brilliantly bright and crisp beams.

Godspeed: A Rock Opera Calls on DPA Microphones to Support Extreme Sound Levels and Tones

USA Touted as an 'epic biblical adventure', Godspeed: A Rock Opera was presented in a special, limited showing at the El Portal Theatre in Hollywood. Written and produced by Music Composer and Emmy-nominated TV show creator Sammy Oriti, Godspeed is a musical depiction of the stories of creation, Adam & Eve, The Virgin Mary, Jesus and John the Baptist, among others. It also featured a six-piece live, progressive rock band and 16 accompanying singers and dancers. In order to best address the breadth of sound that comes with combining opera and rock music, Oriti selected DPA Microphones' d:fine 88 directional headset microphones for all of his vocalists.

With only one day to check and test the system it was straight out to Glasgow Kings Theatre for The Pantheon Club’s production of Legally Blonde the Musical. Head of sound Mike Somerville explains: “It’s a very busy show for sound and having Leopard for our sound reinforcement was the ideal solution to deliver the best overall sound possible. With nine Leopard and two 900-LFC subs each side I’ve never heard anything in that theatre sound so good. I was extremely impressed by the way the sound was very even across the entire frequency range as you walked both towards and away from the arrays. It was a much smoother progression, in both level and consistency of frequency response. To me this marks a step forward in linear loudspeaker development and makes Leopard a bit of a game changer in the small line array category.”

"We are proud of our long association with DWTS and each season we have seen the lighting evolve from the last" said Tim Hall, managing director of Resolution X. This year was no exception with the addition of Clay Paky A.leda B-EYE and Mythos. The rig included both A.leda B-EYE K20 units flown and the A.leda B-EYE K10 on the floor. The smaller K10 were well suited to the space available but surprised with flexibility and output keeping up with the bigger units above. With so many dance numbers and little programming time proved their worth with flexibility. The ability to provide wash, beam or effects allowed for great variety across the season.

USA – During the 1990s, the name Moe’s Mo’Roc’N Café resonated in the hearts of grunge fans everywhere. Located in a nondescript brown building in Seattle’s hip Capitol Hill district, the club didn’t look like much from the outside, but inside it was a cauldron of new musical expressions. Neil Young first collaborated with Pearl Jam here. Mirror Ball, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Garbage all got their start on the club’s stage. Moe’s closed briefly, but was given new life in 2003 when it was relaunched as Nuemos (pronounced “new moes”). Today bands from a new generation are drawing shoulder-to-shoulder crowds at the rechristened club, performing under the lights of an almost all-LED rig comprised of fixtures from Chauvet Professional.
