500 dancers wow audience at 5th annual Dance Proms
UK – Some 500 dancers from the United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, and Norway wowed a packed audience at the Royal Albert Hall, last month, at the fifth annual Dance Proms.
This annual celebration of dance, dancers and dance teachers has become an established favourite in the dance calendar and with Harlequin Floors again the official suppliers of dance floors. A Harlequin Liberty sprung floor with Harlequin Reversible dance surface installed to fit the curvature of the Royal Albert Hall’s arena provided the dancers with a professional dance floor. Group marketing manager, Mark Rasmussen, said: “ Harlequin Floors has been involved with Dance Proms since the inaugural event in 2011 and we are delighted that we continue to be the preferred supplier of dance floors.”
Hosted by So You Think You Can Dance star Matt Flint, the evening showcased an array of dance styles, from ballet and tap to jazz, Kathak and Latin. The acts were interspersed by a moving performance by Dance Proms Patron Lukas McFarlane and his dance company UnTitled. The pas de deux from The Nutcracker was performed by Royal Ballet Principal Nehemiah Kish and First Soloist Yuhui Choe, concluding with Matt Flint’s entertaining tap-off with one of the performers. The finale was choreographed by Craig Bartely, which saw all performers in the arena of the Royal Albert Hall, and prompted a standing ovation from the audience.
