Harlequin Floors give helping hand to CDET Recognised Award Scheme

Harlequin Floors has announced the renewal of the company’s annual support to the Council for Dance Education and Training, CDET.

Making the announcement, Harlequin Floors group marketing manager, Mark Rasmussen said: “We recognise the importance of CDET’s role in advocating and upholding safe standards for all dancers and especially those at the grass roots in dance schools and classes throughout the country. We share the same values that all dancers should learn and perform in a safe environment and that includes dancing on a suitable floor.

Glyndwr Jones, Director of CDET commented: We are grateful for Harlequin’s annual sponsorship support and look forward to working ever closer over the coming year. CDET and our membership are developing from strength to strength with increased engagement across government ministers, industry bodies and the broader performing arts as well as the good news that DaDA funding is now secure for the future.”

He continued: “CDET is delighted to be building on the success of its Recognised Award Scheme with Harlequin’s sponsorship. The past year has seen the introduction of a new online entry and renewal process for the Awards and a series of events highlighting the value of the scheme including CDET’s Dance and Musical Theatre Career’s Conferences. The Recognised Awards are a set of industry-designed standards for part-time performing arts schools and teachers committed to upholding safe and professional standards of practice. Awarded to schools and teachers, these reflect Harlequin’s own dedication to improving health and safety in the dance industry, and enable students and parents/carers to make informed choices about the schools and teachers with whom they wish to study.”
