USA - It's awards season and this year it’s all about the Brits! Not the music awards that are held in London but meaning so many amazing British actors and actresses that are in the running for prestigious awards like Best Male at the Oscars.
This year's annual Oscars Ceremony – quite possibly the biggest night in Hollywood’s diary – and Richard Martin Lighting (RML) was on hand to provide the lights for the Sky Movies coverage hosted by Alex Zane.
Joining Alex on the sofas was a panel of celebrity guests from all different sectors of the entertainment industry, giving their thoughts and opinions on fashion, the night’s winners and any celebrity gossip that is circulating.
Malcolm Reed designed the lighting show which is worked around an impressive set made to look like the Hollywood Hills. It’s not a huge studio and there is so much already going on that a vast lighting rig is not needed. After many years of lighting the show, Malcolm knows this only too well and chose a simple yet effective specification including Sharpys, Alpha Spot 700s and XTC 1.
The Oscars, now in its 87th year, have come a long way since the first ceremony at a private hotel banquet in 1929 when just 270 people attended; guests had to pay $5 and the winners were known beforehand.
