UK - In December, Richard Martin Lighting (RML) celebrated its 30th anniversary. Being in business for that long means being prepared to move with the times and continuously look at ways to develop and progress.

When the company moved to its new Park Royal, London premises in 2007 it was blessed with lots of space, including a demo room, which last year was rebranded and given its own identity – Studio 24.

This multi-purpose space is especially useful for lighting demonstrations, effects and design. The RML team of proficient lighting and industry experts and technicians can be on hand to clarify features, performance and technical characteristics. Alternatively the space can be hired for many other purposes including small productions, rehearsal space, pop promos, music videos, photo shoots and training, to name a few.

  • Fully draped with blackout curtains
  • 3 x 9m automated trusses
  • 125 amp 3 phase distribution racks
  • Projection screens
  • Basic Sound system
  • Secure gated compound with CCTV and dedicated parking for 20 cars + additional if required
  • Accessible for articulated lorries
  • Studio has own shuttered doorway
  • Catering if required
  • Technical and qualified staff along with relevant equipment on request.

One of the reasons the company decided to take the leap was the constant positive feedback received from people who have used the space.

Last year lighting designer Ed Warren, who works with artists including Mumford & Sons, said that it was a fantastic space and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending it!

Paul Bellman, operations manager of Light Initiative also recently said: “Light Initiative has used Studio 24 on a number of occasions. It’s ideal for programming and rehearsals. There is plenty of power and floor space. The studio is very versatile, self-contained with its own access, it's great when you want to engage clients and designers in a professional environment.”

Last but by no means least, industry legend Coral Cooper uses Studio 24 to host all of the Philips Vari-Lite training. She stated: “Philips used this space for a five-day long technical training seminar for the first time last week. We were very impressed with this versatile space, which can be configured for any requirement. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and all my requirements to facilitate the course were met. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be using Studio 24 in the future, it’s a real find!”
