Coda Audio’s New Technologies Impress At ProLight+Sound 2015
Announcing several significant new products and with a stand that was perpetually busy throughout the show’s four days, Coda Audio enjoyed a highly successful ProLight+Sound 2015.
A highlight of the new products was a first glimpse of the company’s new AiRAY three-way, full-range line array system. Set for a full launch in the summer, AiRAY addresses the 'holy grail' of exceptional output and intelligibility, yet is half the size, weight and transport dimensions of conventional 2x12” systems.
Also on show for the first time was the High Output Point Source HOPS8, a passive two-way system with outstanding output-to-size ratio and 100° x 100° coverage. Optimised for near-field applications, the unit is available with two hardware options – HOPS8 for mobile applications and HOPS8i (fitted with M6 flying points) for permanent installations.
Coda also announced LINUS5-C and LINUS10-C four-channel loudspeaker management amplifiers, respectively delivering 5,000W and 10,000W total RMS power output. Aimed at both installation and mobile applications, the lightweight 19”/2U packages incorporates four input, four output DSP, Network and Class D amplification to deliver maximum flexibility, reduced rack space, less weight and overall reduced system cost.
The units feature Coda’s LiNET-C, allowing the transmission of up to four digital audio signals to each amplifier over a standard CAT5 cable, buffered and sent to the next unit via the LiNET-C link out for daisy chaining.
Finally, the company debuted three new Digital Audio Transport and Distribution (DATAD) products, which form an essential part of any Coda total system solution.
Featuring four AES/EBU inputs, a LiNET input and four LiNET outputs, the 19”/1U LiNET Master AES/EBU to LiNET converter forms the bridge between a mixing console and the Coda digital audio network. High quality 44.1 - 192kHz sample rate converters and word clock without jitter mean excellent audio transmission with perfect synchronisation is guaranteed.
Allowing redundant audio connection to the LiNET Master, Coda also debuted the 19”/1U LiNET Switch, which features two LiNET inputs with Fall-Back function and four LiNET outputs.
Meanwhile, the 9.5” (half rack width) ATEC is an AES to Ethernet Converter which merges two AES/EBU pairs and an Ethernet switch to a single EtherCON connector. It’s an ideal all-in-one solution for transmission of up to four digital audio signals, plus LINUS Live software remote control, using a single CAT5 cable.
