PLASA Focus: Leeds 2015 chosen for record number of UK product debuts

UK - PLASA Focus: 2015 Leeds has announced a record number of UK product debuts at this year’s show, held at the Royal Armouries, Leeds on 12th and 13th May, including the new Avolites’ Arena console, Cadac’s CDC six and DiGiCo’s S21 mixing consoles, as well as Meyer Sound’s LEOPARD loudspeaker system and Zero88’s FLX lighting console.

“PLASA Focus: Leeds 2015 is ideally positioned in the industry calendar and we are delighted that so many companies have chosen as the UK Launchpad for their new products,” says Christopher Toulmin, director of events division at PLASA. “It’s a real testament to the success of the show and its relevance to the UK entertainment technology market.”

New product highlights include:

Avolites Avolites’ live control-focused Arena console offering ‘more live control than ever before’, the Avolites Arena is designed for festivals, theatres and anywhere that a larger control surface is required, say Avolites. It combines the popular interface of the Tiger Touch II with 30 additional playback faders and expanded live control options and features.

“The Arena consoles attracted a huge amount of attention during April’s Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt – we were inundated with lighting designers, rental companies and specifiers, generating a fantastic response from many of the people who came to see the new arrival to the Titan product range,” says Avolites’ sales director Koy Neminathan. “We took over 30 orders for Arena and the Optical Titan Net Switch just on the first day and look forward to exhibiting it in Leeds!”

Cadac The latest addition to Cadac’s digital family, the CDC six digital audio mixing console. The CDC six is based on a further development of the advanced gesture-navigation interface developed for the flagship CDC eight, and of course claims all the same high quality audio characteristics of the larger CDC eight, including very low latency. The CDC six is a uniquely compelling proposition, offering the fastest, most intuitive user interface and highest possible audio performance of any audio mixing console.

Core Lighting UK wireless LED lighting manufacturer Core Lighting will be showing its new StripPoint LED batten fixture and showcasing its tiny new PinPoint units and best-selling ColourPoint Mk2 range of wireless battery-powered up-lighters together with other innovative luminaires on European distributor White Light’s stand.

DiGiCo DiGiCo’s new S21 harnesses the power of QuadCore SoC, a console that delivers the incredible power, functionality and sonic quality you expect from DiGiCo, but at a size and price point you just won’t believe.

The S21 can be seen on the Five Star Cases stand. “We’ve been exhibiting at PLASA Focus for a number of year, and it always works really well for us,” says Five Star’s Keith Sykes. “This year, we’re lucky enough to be showcasing DiGiCo’s new S21 on our stand. It created an incredible buzz at its launch at Prolight + Sound and we’re sure it’s going to do the same in Leeds, which will its first showing in the UK.”

Funktion One Renowned UK-based loudspeaker systems manufacturer Funktion-One will use its debut at PLASA Focus: Leeds to present the first UK showing of its new Evolution Series. There are two models – Evo 6 and Evo 7 – both high intensity loudspeakers, which utilise Funktion-One’s latest technology. “The first users of these systems are reporting remarkable coverage and performance,” the company reports.
