Solaris LED Mozarts Accent Brandon Flowers Tour
How do you turn common but necessary stage gear into an integral part of the set design? Lighting designer Steven Douglas solved the dilemma by creatively mounting Solaris LED Mozarts, the versatile pixel-mapping RGBW fixtures, on key equipment for The Killers lead singer Brandon Flowers’ Desired Effects tour.
“We mounted Mozarts on the downstage edge of Brandon's floor monitors,” explains Douglas, “as well as attaching them to mic stands and the back line. We used iPad holders to rotate them into a diamond orientation.”
Douglas adds: “After using the Solaris LED Flares for The Killers, I heard about the Mozarts and tried them on a shoot for the new Guitar Hero Live video game. I like the superior quality of light and their compact size – we can put them pretty much anywhere!”
The European leg of the tour ends this month, followed by North American dates from July to September. Lighting for the tour, including the Mozarts, is provided by Neg Earth.
Called “the perfect pixel,” Solaris LED Mozarts have been seen on the Usher UR Experience tour; the Beyoncé Jay Z On the Run HBO Concert Special; the 2015 Grammy Awards; The X-Factor UK finals, and Season 8 of the American hit TV show, The Voice.
With settings from three to 48 DMX channels, and one, four, or 16 RGB pixel groups per fixture, the lightweight, low profile Mozart is extremely versatile – it fits in the palm of your hand! Mozart’s ultra-high refresh rate at 38,400Hz is great for any camera. At 5x5” and only 1 ¼ lb., the Mozart is perfect for low weight load-bearing structures and surfaces – and it’s IP65 rated! Watch for new Mozart Spot White and RGBW fixtures coming soon!
