Seven Sisters joins the Outline family Beirut’s new hotspot installs Italian sound system
Opened in the summer of 2015, Seven Sisters has fast become one of the trendiest venues in Lebanon’s capital, Beirut. A unique oasis in the skyscraper-packed city, the day-and-night hotspot is located on the waterfront in downtown Beirut and clients can relax in a green environment, watch a show in the outdoor area, chill out under a tree, or savour a breath-taking sunset while having a drink at the bar or enjoying the food on the international menu.
Whether partying at the weekends, enjoying sunset drinks or live cooking with chef Danny Khairallah at the BBQ station, show kitchen or Sashimi station by Le Sushi Bar, clients are also guaranteed a top-grade soundtrack for their enjoyment, thanks to the leading edge sound system.
To ensure the audio rig installed was up to the high standards set for the venue, the management team called in local system integrator Sound Pressure Level.
Headquartered in Beirut, SPL was founded in 1993, has a lengthy experience in touring, and now focuses on audio installation and rental. Thanks to its 24 hour, seven-days-a-week year-round service, the company has built up an enviable client portfolio, installing systems in theatres, cinemas, hotels, ballrooms, conference centres, clubs and pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, shopping malls, fitness centres and places of worship.
SPL’s brief was to come up with a system able to stand up to the harsh outdoor waterfront environment and ensure top-grade performance at high SPL for the venue’s music (Seven Sisters features both DJ sets and live bands). The top brands SPL represents in Lebanon include Outline, so the company obviously looked to the Italian manufacturer’s wide product range to satisfy the venue’s requirements.
The rig installed comprises 38 Eidos enclosures (ten Eidos 12s and 28 Eidos 10s), multi-purpose two-way full-range units equipped respectively with 12 and ten inch loudspeakers, plus a compression driver with 44mm diaphragm and a rotatable waveguide. A beefy bottom end is guaranteed thanks to eight Eidos 218 S subwoofers, particularly suited to reproducing the venue’s music, as their design provides not only extended low-frequency reproduction (down to 28Hz) but also great punch in and around the frequencies normally produced by both acoustic and digital kick drums.
The system is driven by two Genius 24 digital loudspeaker management systems and powered by four T-Five amplifiers and five M5000-4 amplifiers, all manufactured by the Flero-based Italian company.
As well as the work by of Sound Pressure Level’s Elie Louaizi and Maya Louaizi, key roles were played in the Seven Sisters installation by Karim Mohamadieh (management and contracting) and Joe Ziadeh and Tony Hayek (power and electrics).
