White Light Supports The Father with ETC

UK – The Father is one of the most successful theatre productions to have opened in recent times. Following an initial run at Theatre Royal Bath and The Tricycle, the play made its West End debut last year and received five star reviews from The Guardian, Sunday Times, Financial Times, The Observer, Daily Telegraph, The Times and London’s Evening Standard. Due to popular demand, the show is returning once again, with both a West End run at the Duke of York’s Theatre and a UK Tour. Following its previous work on the production, along with its reputation as the West End’s leading lighting supplier, WL is once again providing the lighting equipment for the show, with ETC products playing a significant role.

Despite its quirky title, the 21-stage area that the Buddies call a “campus” is the largest studio specialising in stop-motion animation in California. Best known for the adult animated character Robot Chicken, the stages also produce Super Mansion, LEGO Scooby-Doo, Bratz and MAD “Spy vs. Spy.” Today they are wrapping a promo spot for Superbowl 2016 and a Verizon commercial.

Germany – Every year, during Marburg b(u)y Night, Marburg city centre lights up: more than 60 public and private buildings become the stars of the show, and the shops stay open until midnight. The centrepiece of the event this year was the "Blickpunkt Schloss" project: the medieval landgraves' castle was lit up on the hour and half hour starting from 6pm with a timecoded light and music show. There were three magical places in the city where you could enjoy the show with appropriate background music. Flashlight Veranstaltungstechnik GmbH dealt with staging the events.

Mexico – A massive, all-Meyer Sound system of more than 600 loudspeakers recently supplied seamless coverage for a festive crowd of over 300,000 that converged near the Mexico City suburb of Ecatepec for an open-air Holy Mass with Pope Francis. Held across a sprawling event site temporarily constructed on a vast rain catchment plain known as El Caracol, this was by far the largest event of Pope Francis’s five-day visit to Mexico.

There are six scholarships in all, including the one awarded by Harlequin Floors, plus the public’s prize, the prize for contemporary interpretation, and of course the unique opportunity to benefit from the classes and the presence of renowned professionals. The event also witnessed the launch of the new Harlequin Blog which published daily reports from Lausanne in English, French and Spanish. The blog offered insights into the competition, featured interviews with the candidates, portraits of members of the jury and teachers and a candid look at life behind the scenes. USA - The Music Center has installed a new Meyer Sound Leopard linear sound reinforcement system in Walt Disney Concert Hall, home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LA Phil) and its music and artistic director, Gustavo Dudamel, as well as the Los Angeles Master Chorale and its artistic director, Grant Gershon. Designed by architect Frank Gehry, the 2,265-seat Concert Hall opened in 2003, winning immediate acclaim as one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world. While the LA Phil relies on the hall’s natural acoustics to perform unamplified, an increasing number of contemporary performances require sound reinforcement. Italy – The ancient Roman amphitheatre in Verona was the magnificent setting for Intimissimi on Ice, a sumptuous evening of music and dance on a vast iced stage that covered nearly half the arena floor. Designed in the classical amphitheatre style, the 2,000 year-old stone structure is elliptical in shape, with the outer walls standing about 17 metres in height. The audience was seated in the remaining half of the arena floor and on seating built into the steeply tiered bleachers of the original structure. Beautiful and atmospheric certainly, yet presenting quite a challenge for sound reinforcement.
