Blackout Supplies Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games 2016

UK – Thousands of fundraisers from across the UK flocked to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to run, swim or cycle to raise money for Sport Relief, 20th March 2016.

Blackout worked alongside Progress Productions to supply and install two Prolyte H30V PA towers in the Sport Relief Event Village, from which loudspeaker clusters were hung, to update spectators on fundraising efforts and event updates throughout the day. Truss was also supplied to construct the south gantry providing a VIP walk-in entrance to the Sport Relief Event Village.

Participants were challenged to walk or run a one, three or six mile route around the London venue for the Sport Relief Mile. The event, lead by celebrities including Danny Dyer and Radio 1’s Greg James, attracted over 10,000 athletes.

Blackout director, Kevin Monks said: “With a short lead time it was paramount the load-in happened swiftly and seamlessly. With the Olympic legacy of the venue at the forefront of our minds, our highly skilled team worked hard to match the aspirations of the event organisers. It was a pleasure to be involved with a fantastic charity event, particularly on such a record-breaking year.”

Anamaria Kapulica, production manager at Progress Productions adds: "It is always great to work with the friendly Blackout team, they are an absolute delight to have around on-site, and can be counted upon for their utmost professional manner and reliability."

Visitors had the chance to try their football skills at the West Ham FC Hub, attempt a series of Guinness World Record titles, fly through the air on Fitbit sponsored zipwires, work up a sweat on movement-activated energy floors in Sure’s Skipping Arena and try over 15 new sports in the inspirational sporting venue.
