UK - Artistic Licence, industry experts in lighting control, invite visitors to stand P-12 at this year’s PLASA Focus Leeds. With three new product launches and a preview of the first offering in the ground-breaking lightJuice range, the show holds much excitement in store.

Making its debut is Rail-Merge, a DIN-Rail housed product that merges two DMX512 inputs. The inputs are independently isolated with a high level electrical protection. User-selectable configuration settings include the option to select between ‘latest takes precedence’ and ‘highest takes precedence’ operation. The second input can also be offset by a specific number of channels or operate in ‘concatenate mode’, whereby the B input is simply added to the end of the A input. The product also optionally uses channels 507-512 of the A input to allow all configuration to be remote controlled and provide remote master faders.

In other product launch news, Artistic Licence announces the release of daliDongle, a USB-to-DALI adapter designed to work with the company's free DMX-Workshop software. The interface connects to the DALI cable via crocodile clips. It supports both DALI input and DALI output. Indicators are provided for both data and the presence of DALI Bus Power.

The latest version of DMX-Workshop contains a host of DALI features including data analysis and the ability to send DALI messages either as single commands or via fader control. Uniquely, DMX-Workshop also provides an ‘emulation mode’, where it uses daliDongle to emulate multiple Type 0 DALI ballasts. ARC levels are then displayed on screen as both fader levels and RGB colour mixes. This feature is a great aid to DALI product designers.

Completing the trio of new product launches, moody retro represents a valuable addition to the moody range of LED wall controllers and programmable scene setters. Unlike the standard product, which is housed in a white ABS panel, moody retro comprises just the dial and control electronics, so it can be slotted into existing wall plates. This is ideal for installations where the standard white panel would not match the existing décor or is not desired. moody retro offers all the control options of the standard moody range.

Artistic Licence is particularly excited to be previewing lightJuice CV4, the first product in a new range of technology based on the latest Power over Ethernet (PoE++) standard. The network cable carries both power and lighting control data, so AC mains wiring is eliminated. lightJuice offers cost savings and uses human-safe DC voltage suitable for LEDs.

lightJuice CV4 is a four-channel constant voltage dimmer configured for common anode drive. It offers high resolution (up to 12-bit) PWM dimming and can drive loads up to 60W in total at 24V. The product supports both Art-Net and sACN, with data and power connected via an Ethercon RJ45. An auxiliary DC input offers an alternative mode of operation if PoE++ is not available.

Completing the line-up are examples from the versaSplit (rack mount) and versaSplit mini (desktop or truss mount) product ranges. As a multi-functional modular DMX splitter/gateway, the versaSplit range offers the customer a great deal of choice. The user inter-changeable input modules support DMX/RDM, Ethernet (Art-Net, sACN & KiNET) or CRMX wireless DMX, and offer a handy ‘fix mode’ for the troublesome flickering that can be encountered with some lamps.

The beauty of the product is that all the input modules can be purchased separately, making versaSplit an extremely versatile and future-proof investment. Indeed, versaSplit has already received rave reviews.

Artistic Licence CEO and technical guru, Wayne Howell, will be available throughout the show to answer technical questions and advise on the most appropriate solutions.
