USA – It was a star-studded evening at the 25th Annual Trumpet Awards, a tremendous celebration of African American achievers and those who support the African American experience. Bounce, who recently acquired the show, produced and aired the awards Sunday, 29th January. Bandit Lites provided the lighting package for the evening which took place on 21st January at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. The event honours accomplishments in diverse fields including law, medicine, business, politics, the Arts, civil rights, sports, entrepreneurship, entertainment and other careers.

UK – As part of their European journey, Swedish band Opeth opted for a single show at Wembley Arena for their UK audience. Magnus Boyd has been lighting the band for the last 18 months. The show at Wembley was a part of the Sorceress World Tour. The first portion started in the US with twenty odd shows and continued in Europe. “During the tour, we have done special extended sets (at Radio City and Belasco in LA) featuring songs from the Deliverance and Damnation albums before the third at Wembley. The final extended set will be at the Sydney Opera House in February. These are impressive spaces that really deserve a large production; the design didn’t change much, we just doubled what we would normally have in the rig.”

Its current sound system, built around Renkus-Heinz loudspeakers and subwoofers is even younger than that, with an update in 2011. USA – One of Milwaukee’s most famous buildings got a face-lift with a brand-new lighting refit and smart control, responsive to the weather conditions – the iconic gas flame that was added in 1956 indicates the weather forecast by its color and flicker. This weather beacon was turned off in 1973 because of that year’s energy crisis, but turned back on in 1985. It has now been updated with an incredible LED system that lights up the entire building. MainStage, a US-based theatrical supplier and integrator, was responsible for this project.
