UK – POLAR recently invited delegates from across the AV industry to attend its all-day 'POLAR Presents Live – Wider Horizons' event at The London Film Museum in Covent Garden. Against the background of Bond in Motion, the largest official collection of original James Bond vehicles, those in attendance were treated to an in-depth evaluation of some fascinating, cutting edge technologies, all of significant interest to integrators, consultants and end-users. The event served to demonstrate how POLAR has broadened its portfolio in recent times to incorporate video and unified communications products, whilst still retaining its traditional audio brands.

Wyrestorm, Biamp and Revolabs were on hand to deliver excellent and informative presentations, whilst POLAR also took the opportunity to bring along a wider range of products from Avonic, InOut, Australian Monitor, Cornered Audio, Renkus Heinz and Novasonar.

Upon arrival, delegates mingled over tea, coffee and some very welcome breakfast rolls before taking their seats for the day's first presentation, delivered by POLAR director Stuart Leader who heads up the company's integrated solutions division. Stuart introduced the day's proceedings and spoke about POLAR's journey into the world of video and UC, before handing over to Wyrestorm for a presentation and Q and A session.

With everyone suitably impressed, there was then an opportunity to peruse the Bond exhibition and have an informal look at the products on show. After a relaxed and hearty lunch, Biamp gave a presentation about its Tesira platform and AVB, after which Revolabs gave further insights into AVB and device management.

Before the delegates dispersed, all that remained was to conduct the presentations to four winners of the prize draw, who took home some enviable prizes in the shape of an Nespresso coffee maker, Amazon Echo, beyerdynamic Byron headphones and £150 in Amazon vouchers.

POLAR managing director, John Midgley, reflects on another successful day out of the office: "There's a tremendous value to putting on occasions such as this. It's a real chance for all stakeholders in the industry to engage with and gain insights into, technologies that are significantly shaping the development of AV. Bringing people together not only allows them to benefit from the in-depth education offered by the manufacturers – the presentations were excellent – but also to discuss and share their ideas and experience in an stimulating and social setting. The feedback we received from the day was excellent and we are already considering our options for the next POLAR Presents Live event."
