Chauvet DJ Promises its Most Ambitious Arena Design Yet

Marked Events, organisers of BPM | PRO, has announced a set of ambitious new plans for the Chauvet DJ Arena ahead the 2017 event. Promising a club-style atmosphere and an impressive design, Chauvet DJ hopes to take the Arena beyond anything the company has done in previous years.

As the central performance space for the show, the Chauvet DJ Arena has long provided visitors with DJs sets and performances from some of the industry’s biggest name as well as talented newcomers. But this year Chauvet hopes to take things to a completely new level, putting together a design that will feature an extending overhead structure that covers the stage and audience in pixel-mapped effects and sharp beams.

“I’m really looking forward to the design being implemented, as we’ve not done a design like this at BPM | PRO before,” explained Toby Freeman (European product specialist) in a recent interview. “The structure will reach out over the crowd to provide a more powerful presence and we’re also dressing more of the truss with products in order to make every aspect of the structure a feature. The visuals won’t just be about the beams but also about how the products display themselves.”

In terms of the products that Toby and his team are using, each has been chosen for its ability to help fill the huge performance space that this year’s Chauvet DJ Arena will provide. Creating a roofed feel, the mother grid will be covered in powerful Festoon RGBs to provide a ceiling of light, as well as allowing the team to pixel map across the whole Arena.

The company’s Intimidator series will also play an important role, with the range’s top-end units providing the output level that the Arena requires. The high-output Intimidator Beam 140SR and Intimidator Hybrid 140SR will both be used, bringing crisp beams and floor-filling effects to the venue. Meanwhile, the Intimidator Wash Zoom 450 IRC will help flood the Arena in light thanks to its twelve 15W LEDs and the colour mixing offered by its zone control.

Many of the fixtures used inside the Chauvet DJ Arena will also be featured over on Chauvet’s exhibitor stand, where the company’s ‘Play Podiums’ will allow visitors to try out products for themselves. Part of the stand will also be dedicated to demonstrating the Sound Switch – Chauvet DJ’s new hardware/software bundle – which lets DJs and lighting designers create DMX displays that can be played back in time with audio files in Serato DJ.

Alongside showcasing epic Chauvet light shows throughout the event, the Chauvet DJ Arena will feature unmissable performances from the likes of DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kutski, Slipmatt, Lempo, and more TBA very soon.
