11th Hour – A Word with Your Sponsors?
UK – Over the last 12 years Cardiff-based events services provider 11th Hour has expanded its operation to become a leading light in its field. As the company has grown, its directors have been careful to channel significant resources towards investing in the latest technology and expertise to maintain an ever-stronger and more efficient presence in the market. From the core essentials of mains power and distribution, stage structures, barriers, sound, lighting, pyrotechnics, ice rinks, marquees and toilets, 11th Hour can supply the infrastructure for any event on any scale. The company’s teams can supply turnkey solutions that include every aspect of planning, installing and managing events, providing fully trained staff and even box office services.
Clearly, 11th Hour is about covering every conceivable angle relating to event supplies and in its desire to offer its clients the best possible service, has added another string to its bow by successfully brokering sponsorship deals for a number of large events. Sponsorship is of course a familiar and firmly established practice, offering financial support to help underwrite the costs of staging an event whilst delivering the benefits of advertising and brand awareness to the sponsor. 11th Hour’s experience of the sector, working on everything from small local projects to large scale international events has often involved working closely with clients and their sponsors. This has provided the company not only with an enviable list of contacts but also a thorough understanding of the way relationships succeed in this area of business, something that 11th Hour business development manager, Jason Venables, saw as something that could be cultivated for the benefit of all stakeholders: “Our aim has always been to be much more than just a supplier of kit. That’s not to denigrate what is at the centre of our business but rather to enhance what we can do for our clients in every respect. Our experience in the field demonstrated to us that there were key areas where organisers might struggle, either through a lack of knowledge of process, contacts, or simply the weight of other demands on their time. In exactly the same way as we would consult with a client about equipment, staffing, safety or planning, so we are able to help with brokering what can be an all-important sponsorship deal. It’s without doubt a win-win scenario – every deal struck benefits every event staged.”
The most recent example of 11th Hour’s success in this area was brokering the sponsorship deal for Cardiff Winter Wonderland’s Ice Rink, a seasonal attraction that draws more than 60,000 skaters and which placed insurance giants Admiral firmly in the public eye during its nine week run.
