Stage Electrics and Pacific Lighting begin work in Hong Kong’s new Freespace Theatre.
Hong Kong – The joint venture between Stage Electrics and Pacific Lighting has proved highly successful in winning the contract to deliver state of the art production lighting, sound and video infrastructure, communication systems and rigging for the Freespace Theatre, one of the new performance venues located in Hong Kong’s new Cultural District.
Since signing the £1.7million contract in early 2017 the team have undertaken detailed off-site design work, liaising regularly with the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. Activity on-site has now commenced, including installation, termination and testing of the specialist works ahead of the planned official opening in 2019.
Pacific Lighting’s Hugh Chinnick and Virginia Kam have been key in providing local coordination, advice and guidance to the main contractor, Sun Fook Kong Construction Ltd, drawing on Pacific Lighting’s years of experience as leading Hong Kong theatre practitioners.
Stage Electrics has provided project management experience under the leadership of Matthew Addison, senior project manager. In addition to procurement, engineering and fabrication capability, supplying over 200 bespoke facility panels, manufactured, populated and wired in SE's UK engineering workshop, plus over 40 kilometres of specialist cables.
Dan Aldridge, commercial director at Stage Electrics commented: “Combining the strengths of Pacific Lighting and Stage Electrics makes a formidable team, offering clients local focus with an extensive portfolio of large scale installation experience”.
