Stage|Set|Scenery: It’s all about the sound

GermanyAt Stage|Set|Scenery, which will be taking place from 18 to 20 June in Berlin, trade visitors can find out about the latest developments in audio technology, ranging from acoustic design to wireless digital sound systems. At the international trade show and conference for theatre, film and event technology, national and international exhibitors will be presenting their latest innovations in audio systems, acoustics, acoustic equipment, PA systems and electro-acoustics. The audio segment is fully booked, with newcomers making up 35 per cent of the exhibitors. Leading industry players such as Meyer Sound, Yamaha, Gerriets and d&b audiotechnik will be among those present. DPA Microphones, Kling & Freitag and Yamaha are presenting their innovations for the first time at the show.

Stage|Set|Scenery’s expanding audio segment features a partnership with the German Sound Engineers’ Association (vdt), which will be inviting members and interested visitors to meet and exchange views on its stand in Hall 22.

In contrast to other areas of theatre technology it is impossible to portray sound visually or in words. It has to be heard and experienced. At the SoundLab, away from the bustle of the show, trade visitors can find out about the latest audio technology trends in an ideal acoustic environment. At Stage|Set|Scenery the SoundLab in Hall 22 offers the perfect sound experience, be it classical music, a cappella singing or a musical. This is where companies such as Gerriets, KS Beschallungstechnik, Müller-BBM, DPA Microphones, Kling & Freitag and Shure will be giving live demonstrations.

For audio enthusiasts, Round Tables on the topic of 'Sound' will round off the programme of events. Gerriets will be presenting the latest advances in rail-mounted, projector and acoustic systems (RoundTable 21, Tuesday 18 June, 5-5:45pm). Bo Brinck and Florian Kresse of DPA Microphones will be examining where to place microphones at performances in order to ensure optimum speech audio quality (RoundTable 22, Thursday, 20 June, 3-3:45pm). At RoundTable 23, Matthias Fehr and Stella Morabito of APWPT and Hubert Eckart of DTHG will be talking about radio frequencies for wireless production tools (Thursday, 20 June, 3-4:45pm).

On 21 June, the day after the show, trade visitors and exhibitors can take part in excursions which will be taking a look behind the scenes. These will include a ninety-minute tour of Funkhaus Berlin – which to this day boasts a quality music production system – where they can explore the recording rooms. At Stage Tec, visitors can tour the production department and get a glimpse of the complex process of manufacturing mixing consoles that are made in Germany. Information about the excursions and on how to register can be found here.
