Light Fantastic Production Services return to Women in Data 2019 with a complete event package
UK – Women in Data is the organisations flagship annual conference, pulling in over 1,000 attendees from around the world. Held within the impeccable surroundings of the InterContinental, London O2 on the banks of the River Thames, WiD features inspirational, keynote presentations from a host of guest speakers.
Having worked with Light Fantastic Production Services on a succession of previous events, WiD once again called upon the team to provide a complete technical, equipment and logistics production solution, custom designed to cover all aspects of the prestigious conference.
Branding for the 2019 Women in Data collection has been characterised by red to signify confidence, ambition and drive. Following this theme, LFPS applied bold, crimson hues throughout the stage set and lighting design, emphasising the colour as a symbol of strength and vitality. Continuing the look, the team extended the lighting design into the auditorium to create a more intimate feel within the space.
With a limited time frame in which to build the event, LFPS worked throughout the night to transform the hotel’s elegant Arora Ballroom, taking care of all lighting, audio, video, rigging and scenic elements ready for the 9am start.
At its focal point, the main stage featured a sharp, smart design conceived around a central ‘W’ concept and flanked with distinct WiD branding and sponsor graphics. Designed in-house and constructed by the LFPS fabrication department, the scenic elements added depth and form to the substantial stage area.
Speaking about WiD 2019, WiD co-founder Roisin McCarthy says: “Once again Light Fantastic delivered a flawless production for our 2019 conference. Each year WiD grows bigger, bolder and braver and the high standard of production solidifies this. Looking forward to working with the LFPS team in 2020.”
Taking care of the event’s video requirement including both playback and IMAG, LFPS used laser projection to ensure every detail was captured. Control duties were handled by a Barco S3 with Sony camera channels plus a selection of playback sources.
Audio was covered via a pair of flown hangs of D&B Y-Series Line array using D&B Array Processing. Various D&B point source boxes were deployed on outfill duties with front fills in white to blend in with the elegant stage design. The system was run from a Yamaha QL5 digital console fed by 24 channels of Shure ULXD digital radio mics.
The team also supported two breakout stages and various exhibitor areas, providing all technical, lighting, audio, video and power throughout the site.
With all equipment safely installed, tested and ready to roll, the Light Fantastic crew remained on-site throughout the event to ensure every aspect of the production was on cue and smooth running from beginning to end.
Light Fantastic’s Rob Myer says: “We’re delighted to be once again partnering the Women in Data team for this important event. Our team has handled full production, delivering all the technical, artistic and logistical services to create a bold, stylish look that worked incredibly well within the capacious space and perfectly complemented the theme of the 2019 conference.”
