Sony Plays Hard with Midas Heritage 4000s

Corporate events and staging specialist Creative Technology used a pair of Midas Heritage 4000 mixing consoles at the E3 Sony Playstation party, held as part of the E3 video gaming exposition in Los Angeles, CA. E3 showcases the latest innovations in gaming software design, gaming platforms, hardware and peripherals. The Sony event took place at Dodgers Stadium, with some five thousand people from all walks of the gaming industry in attendance including VIPs, game console and content developers and movie developers. The evening featured performances by A-list recording artists Black Eyed Peas, Missy Elliot, and The Crystal Method.

William Nealie is in charge of audio technology and design at the Chatsworth, CA., office of Creative Technology. He reported: “We took delivery of our two 56-channel Heritage 4000 consoles in March, and have found them to be supremely flexible. Though they are big, they have the equivalent output capabilities and feature set of two separate large format analogue consoles bussed together, so, from that perspective, they actually save space and setup time - all with the unbeatable ‘Midas sound’ of the preamps, and EQs that really work. At the Sony show, we were able to minimize set change time by flip-flopping from one console to another, which also gave the headline act exclusivity on both consoles. This really enhanced the continuity of the show, without cutting corners.”

Nealie continued: “Basically, the Heritage 4000 has more outputs than anyone should ever need! As a monitors console, the 4000 allows an engineer to keep signals separated without compromise – a real advantage in the era of in-ear monitors. And, in whatever application it’s used, ergonomically I find the console to be clearly and concisely laid out despite its vast capabilities. With Midas you’re bringing recognized quality to the table – that’s why the majority of our consoles are from Midas. The quality, reliability and performance of our equipment are essential to our status as the industry leader. We primarily do corporate shows, and have a Midas solution for events of any size or shape: The Heritage 4000 obviously allows us to handle any situation, but we also have a VeronaR and a Heritage 2000 with a 16-channel sidecar - those both see a lot of action. A number of Venice 160 and Venice 320 consoles complete the picture.”
