Word of Mouth Brings Allen & Heath to The Church of Pembroek Pines

The contemporary services at the non-denominational church, located near Miami in Florida, had grown beyond the capacities of its previous mixing console. Ross explains: "I started to ask around and investigate which would be the best desk for our money, placing calls with end-users and people in the business. My research highlighted Allen & Heath as the best board for quality, sound, and features. So my decision came from word of mouth - that's the best kind of advertising you can have!"
The contemporary services at the Church of Pembroke Pines typically feature a substantial band line-up and several vocalists. "It's absolutely contemporary, we are very far from traditional," says Ross. "The monitoring demands of the services meant that the old console was simply no longer up to the task. It just didn't have enough functionality to do what we needed now, and as the musical demands of the church will grow in the future," he reports.
In common with the rest of the ML Series of consoles, the ML4000 offers the ability to configure a number of sends as stereo pre/post fade pairs specifically for in-ear monitoring, and also to assign master level control to linear faders. That proved ideal for driving wedge monitors for the band members as well as IEMs for the vocalists.
But as Ross observes, in addition to supporting the features that the church required, there was a bonus to installing the ML4000. "A couple of the people that I'd talked to about Allen & Heath told me, 'when you get the board, you will even hear a difference in the sound.' I was just looking for more auxiliaries and more advanced features but it actually brought great sound too.
