Visions Lighting and the Latin Super Stars Blowout
Los Angeles-based Visions Lighting were the lighting production company of choice for the 7th annual Reventon (Blowout), radio station Super Estrella's Summer Concert Bash 2004. Packed into the sold-out Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, 17,000 Latin music fans enjoyed over six hours of some of the most popular names in Spanish-language music: La Ley, Paulina Rubio, Cafe Tacuba, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Aleks Syntek, Akwid, Serralde, La Factoria, Pepe Aguilar and Italian diva, Ingrid.
Lighting Designer for the event, Chris Reade, lit the show and ran the Avolites Diamond III console for the majority of the acts who hit the stage. “It is really fun show to do,” said Reade. “It is not so much of an ego battle. Everybody understands that this is a festival, and that there is more than enough lighting in the air for whatever they want to do. The stress level is not nearly as high as other radio shows, even though the production is huge.”
The Visions Lighting rig, which consisted of a series of circular and curved trusses, was primarily made up of High End equipment: 12 Cyberlights, 33 Studio Colors, 24 Studio Beams, 14 Studio Spots with 30 Martin MAC 2000 Profiles and 9 Coemar Super Cycs. “The rig was quite deceptive,” said Visions Lighting’s Todd Roberts, who coordinated the lighting side of the event. “Although there were just over 120 moving lights up in the air, it looked like a lot more. It was a tough couple of days for my guys, but everyone was really impressed with how it looked, and that makes it all worth while.”
“Visions Lighting’s crew and equipment were great,” said Reade. “Vision’s crew chief, Jason Dill, in particular, is incredible. The show was very well put together and ran really smoothly. That, of course, makes it all the more fun for the rest of us.”
