The Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio has announced that the 21st Annual Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards will be held on Saturday, October 8 at the New York Marriott Marquis on the second night of the 119th AES Convention. The TEC Awards, founded in 1985 by Mix magazine, honors outstanding achievement in professional audio production and product design.

Established last year, the TECnology Hall of Fame honors innovators and products that have made significant contributions to the development of audio and music technology.

“We’re excited to return to New York City,” says Hillel Resner, president of the Mix Foundation. “It was here that the first TEC Awards ceremony was held over two decades ago, with the goal of establishing a forum for recognizing excellence in the audio arts and sciences. Along with rest of the industry, we look forward to another impressive night of honoring our finest with the 21st TEC Awards presentation

The TEC Awards comprises seven categories of Creative Achievement for outstanding audio projects (record production, tour sound, film sound, etc.) and 16 categories of Technical Achievement for excellence in product design.
