Mike Falconer.net Podcast
A podcast is a broadcast of audio recordings, in MP3 format, that is downloaded to your computer on a regular basis from the Internet. Once an MP3 file is downloaded, you can listen to it on your computer or your portable MP3 player –such as Apple's iPod – hence podcast and podcasting. Podcasts can be received directly by several software-based music players or by using a podcasting utility.
“The plan is to make a couple of articles available each month in an audio format,” says Falconer. “Like the text archive I maintain on mikefalconer.net, the articles that will be part of the podcast will have been previously published; however, there may also be the occasional unpublished article.” The individual MP3 files are also available for download from mikefalconer.net for users who do not wish to use the podcast.
Falconer has had articles published in industry trade magazines Lighting Dimensions, Lighting & Sound America, Lighting & Sound International and Projection Lights and Staging News (PLSN). Although Falconer primarily writes for the entertainment technology trade press, he also has had work published by PopMatters.com, Adbusters Magazine and Needle Nose Notes. Falconer also reviews concert DVDs on the Rental Source forums.
“Podcasting is a great and easy way to consume audio recordings other media,” says Falconer. “I’m a pretty dedicated podcast listener myself, so it makes a lot of sense to offer this from my website.”
