Wireless Solutions and W-DMX Launch in US
Swedish manufacturer Wireless Solutions Sweden AB has announced they will launch their W-DMX product range in the US at this year’s ETS-LDI show in Orlando, Florida.
Based in Uddevalla, Sweden, Wireless Solutions was started in 2003 by a group of lighting and GSM professionals with the goal of creating a simple, yet reliable, wireless DMX512 system. Designed for theatre, corporate events, theme parks and architectural applications, Wireless Solutions’ W-DMX product is a plug-and-play system that easily outclasses Wi-Fi-based arrangements. The first prototypes of the W-DMX product range were shown in 2004 at the SIB show in Rimini, Italy and at PLASA in London. It was at the 2004 PLASA show that Wireless Solutions won a PLASA Award for Innovation for its W-DMX transceiver by “Taking wireless data to new levels”, according to the judges.
“We are really excited to be showing our product line in the US for the first time,” says Wireless Solutions’ international product manager, Niclas Arvidsson. “We are proud of what we have achieved with W-DMX and feel that it offers unparalleled reliability and ease-of use. America is the home of the technical spectacular, and this is an environment to which our products are ideally suited.”
Products in the W-DMX range consist of a W-DMX Receiver, W-DMX Transmitter, W-DMX Transceiver and W-DMX Booster and include battery powered, uninterruptible power supply, OEM and IP65 versions. W-DMX can be used to cover distances of over 3,000 feet using the standard antenna. An optional larger antenna makes distances of over 18 miles possible.
W-DMX uses adaptive frequency hopping with Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) modulation and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), which allows a single radio frequency to support multiple, simultaneous data channels. The technology employed by Wireless Solutions for W-DMX is based on technologies developed for the GSM mobile phone network and the US Military. W-DMX products are pending for UL and approved for use by the FCC in addition to being CE and ETSI certified.
At the ETS-LDI show Wireless Solutions will be available to discuss dealer, distributor and OEM opportunities.
