USITT Presents Special Citation Award to Cast Software
On Saturday, 19th March 19th, Gilray Densham, founder and CEO of Cast Software, was the recipient of a USITT Special Citation Award commending his company’s efforts in the development and refinement of WYSIWYG — the industry’s only all-in-one lighting software.
“It was an honor to be recognized by USITT, a foundation that promotes and supports hundreds of thousands of students and educators in the field of theatrical production. A significant part of Cast’s mission is to provide educational software that encourages hands-on learning, preparing students for real-world scenarios”, remarks Gil. “It’s exciting for us to continue our development of specialized design software for this flourishing industry.”
While exhibiting at the Expo, Cast introduced Vivien — an all-in-one design package created for the meeting and event industry. “The response from lighting and design professionals was tremendous”, says Gil. “The need for this type of an event design solution has been long awaited.”
Compatible with Cast’s flagship software WYSIWYG, Vivien allows users to create a virtual representation of their event, selecting from a vast library of items, including tables, chairs, décor, AV, architectural, banquet, and staging items. Complete customization is easily achieved by applying textures, colors and lighting to the design. Inventory is tracked by Vivien’s extensive database that produces detailed floor plans and layouts as desired. Seating arrangements of any magnitude are automatically calculated and rendered. And when the design is complete, it can be viewed in 2D or 3D, seen as picture-perfect reality from every imaginable angle.
With this special acknowledgment from USITT, and the launch of Vivien, 2005 is proving to be an exciting year for Cast Software
