Wynn Las Vegas Debuts with Landmark Color Kinetics Installation

Color Kinetics has announced the largest-ever, landmark installation of its lighting systems at the new $2.7 billion Wynn Las Vegas resort and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Wynn Las Vegas boasts a three-acre, man-made lake as its highly anticipated visual centerpiece. Encompassing more than 4,000 individually controlled, submersed Color Kinetics C-Splash 2 systems, the lake represents the largest intelligent solid-state lighting installation of its kind, and seamlessly changes color as part of a spectacular, multimedia light-and-water show. The lake also features a five-story waterfall that cascades from a 150-foot man-made mountain.

This milestone installation underscores the incredible applications that are now made possible by the combination of today’s power LEDs and Color Kinetics’ technology and system infrastructure,” said Bill Sims, president and COO, Color Kinetics. “We are extremely proud that our technology plays a vital role in the unprecedented scale and ambitious design of this remarkable installation.”

The lake’s lighting design was conceptualized by Patrick Woodroffe, with the C-Splash 2 systems supplied in a lighting package by Production Resource Group (PRG), who acted as the system integrator. C-Splash 2 is an intelligent solid-state lighting system that provides vibrant color and dynamic lighting effects for use in or near fresh and saltwater locations up to 15 feet deep. It allows freedom in design for water-based applications that integrate color and light for both subtle and dramatic visual effect – from colored accents in landscaping design, to theatrical color-changing fountains, to grand-scale theme park installations.

The 217-acre Wynn Las Vegas resort includes 2,700 guest rooms and suites in an elegant 50-story, bronze tower with floor to ceiling windows that frame views of the private lake and mountain, the Las Vegas Strip, or the golf course. The resort also houses a signature show by Franco Dragone, called Le Reve, which will also feature the dynamic lighting effects of C-Splash 2.
