Swing Wing Wins Rental & Staging Systems Product Award
Tomcat USA has announced that its Swing Wing received the award for Best Truss or Rigging Product at the AV Communications Excellence Awards Banquet on 7th June. The banquet was one of many events held in conjunction with InfoComm - Rental and Staging Systems magazine and the International Communications Industries Association’s tradeshow for the professional audiovisual industry. This is the second product award for Swing Wing since receiving the EDDY Award in 2003.
The Rental and Staging Systems Product Awards are given to products made with the rental and staging market in mind. A panel of judges (including members of the staff of Rental and Staging Systems plus and members of the ICIA Rental and Staging Council Nomination) received suggestions from industry professionals. Then the magazine held a readers' poll to determine the final awards.
Tomcat USA CEO, John James commented on the award: “We constantly strive to create products that are innovative, but useful to the entertainment industry. This award is a great tribute to that mission. We are honored."
From a stackable, self-contained transport position to a sleek functional rigging position when flown, Swing Wing Truss is the new intelligent pre-rig. Designed to hold a wide variety of conventional and intelligent fixtures from the x.Spot and VL1000 ERS to the Martin 2000 and Studio Colors, Swing Wing accommodates virtually any fixture. Similar to Tomcat’s Heavy Duty pre-rig in its 30” X 30” form, the main cords are fabricated from 2” OD X 3/16” aluminum and the diagonals are fabricated from 1-1/2” OD X 1/8” aluminum. Swing Wing comes equipped with a steel spigot arrangement, supports up to three lamp bars and is available in 8’ and 10’ lengths. Accessories include a 3rd caster assembly and cable hooks.
Recent tours with Swing Wing include Eminem, Janet Jackson, Creed, Dixie Chicks and Veggie Tales Live and Metallica.
