Atlanta Sound & Lighting EV Line Array Event Diary

Longtime EV users Atlanta Sound & Lighting have a 30-year record of excellence as one of the Southwest United States’ leading full-service event production companies. ASL deployed their trusty EV XLC rig for a recent concert by Hank Williams, Jr., in Brunswick, Georgia on October 27th.

“This was a cool event to be involved in,” says ASL’s Steven Dublin Stapleton, FOH engineer for the show. “This event was for Single Point Productions, down on the Golden Isles Speedway just outside Brunswick GA. This was a Hank show, so ample SPL was a big concern!”

ASL provided arrays of 12 XLC 127+ per side, with six flown XLC 118’s per side and four ground-stacked EV MT2’s per side. They provided plenty of power on stage, with two flown EV X-Array Xn boxes over two EV MT2s, along with 10 Xw12 and 10 Xw15 monitors, controlled by EV Dx38 processors and powered by EV CP 3000S amplifiers. FOH console for Hank Jr. was a Midas Heritage 3000; everyone else fitted festival-style on a Midas Verona 480.

“ASL has an extensive selection of Electro-Voice and Dynacord equipment on hand,” Stapleton says, “from the ultra-compact Dynacord Cobra-2, XA2 and EV XLE systems to the EV XLD and XLC. Together these are a resource that allows us to produce high-impact, small-footprint shows on a daily basis. Individually these systems are all incredible. However, combining two or more elements does not cause us problems, as can be the case with other manufacturer’s products. All the above elements compliment each other, giving us the right balance of high SPL with ultimate clarity and precision. There really isn't any application an EV product in our arsenal cannot handle. Back that up with the relationship we have with Telex/EV as a company and as individuals, and we’re over the moon with what we’ve been able to achieve.”
