EVIDs Take Off at Ecuador Airport
Electro-Voice EVID loudspeakers are bringing sonic excellence and subtle style to the newly opened Jose Joaquin de Olmedo Airport in Guayaquil, Ecuador, as part of an extensive installation by AudioProfesional Cia. Ltda. (Guayaquil).
The airport’s eight-zone selective paging system includes 66 EVID 6.2T surface mounted loudspeakers (in white) and nine EV CPST power amplifiers. In addition, the airport’s three VIP lounges feature 33 EVID 8.2C ceiling speakers.
“The intelligibility is 100% clear,” reported Jordi A. Fabara, general manager at AudioProfesional’s Guayaquil office, “and the owners (City Municipality of Guayaquil) are thrilled with the system. The EVID 6.2T’s impressive performance to size ratio and smooth design were deciding factors for our customers. The CPS2T amplifiers were chosen for their quality and reliability—it’s our number one amp, and we don’t settle for less.”
After spec’ing the equipment, Fabara and his team EQ’d each zone individually, paying particular attention to the lobby areas, which have a considerably different acoustic signature: “The EVIDs have an exceptionally smooth and efficient response to the subtle EQ changes we made between zones,” Fabara says, “adding up to a seamless audio effect throughout the airport, with flawless spoken-word reproduction. We recently received high praise from a technical rep of a major US manufacturer of control systems, who told us he didn’t miss a word in English, even when the person making the page had a strong Spanish accent. At an international airport, this is obviously important.”
