Audient to Unveil New Centro Master Section at Frankfurt 2006

Audient’s Centro is a stand-alone master section for the DAW-centred studio, which brings together monitoring and routing of analogue and digital sources, cue mixing and talkback in a flexible, ergonomic package. Centro completes Audient’s series of workstation peripherals—joining the ASP008 Variable Impedance Mic Pre and Sumo Summing Amplifier in enhancing the sound quality, flexibility and ergonomics of the DAW-centred studio.

Key features include six stereo digital sources and four analogue sources; two Cue mixes for performers and built-in talkback. Centro is capable of controlling three pairs of speakers and a sub and provides a great way to have the immediacy and flexibility of a console’s master section alongside a workstation.

Product specialist Ross McFarlane explains: ”We’ve all seen the shift towards desktop audio production, but that doesn’t mean that professional engineering is dead, far from it. Smaller rooms and smaller budgets don’t make engineers or studios any less professional, but they do have to make the most of what they’ve got. Together with ASP008 and Sumo, Centro will enhance a DAW system enormously—the sound and ergonomics of one of our consoles, without the need to reinforce your floor.”
