Sapsis Rigging Hangs Around New York City
For the 14th year in a row, Sapsis Rigging has provided rigging design, equipment, labor and supervision for Fashion Week in New York City. The venues involved this season included the tents in Bryant Park, The 26th Street Armory, Chelsea Piers, Lux Studios on west 18th Street and Bumble & Bumble Studios on west 13th Street.
The equipment provided by Sapsis rigging included over 100 chain hoists, lighting truss, a self-climbing rig and staging.
Sapsis Rigging also provided the rigging equipment to hang the video screens at the US Open in Flushing New York. There were a total of five screens weighing, on average, over 8,000 pounds apiece. Two screens were inside Stadium 1, and two screens were inside stadium 2. The fifth screen was hung on the outside of stadium 2.
Sapsis Rigging provided the safety equipment for the recent Naomi Watts photo shoot on the Chrysler Building. The shoot, which resulted in the cover photo for the Conde' Nast magazine Traveler, placed Ms. Watts on one of the famous eagle gargoyles at the 61st floor of the building.
