Electronic Theatre Controls Offers $50,000 Challenge Grant for Behind the Scenes

The ESTA Foundation is honored to announce a major challenge has been issued by Electronic Theatre Controls to the entertainment technology industry to step up to the plate at LDI for Behind the Scenes.

In announcing the ETC $50,000 Challenge Grant, CEO Fred Foster said: “Our industry runs on the flexibility, skills and artistry of people who dedicate themselves to creating the magic of the theatre. Sadly, this means that many times an illness or crisis can catch one of us without the support of full benefits and insurance. The ESTA Foundation’s Behind the Scenes program provides a perfect way for us, as an industry, to provide a much needed backstop to this shortfall.

“ETC is proud to follow the path of other individual and corporate donors to support the Behind the Scenes effort. We hope that our donation will spur others to support this cause. If you haven’t contributed to Behind the Scenes, please take the challenge to do so now.”

There are many ways to support Behind the Scenes during LDI, November 16-18 in Orlando. The Foundation will be raffling off the beautiful custom bike known as the "Broadway Chopper" as well as a $2500 and a $1000 Visa gift card. Raffle tickets are available online through October 31st or at the Behind the Scenes booth #1245 during the show. You can try your hand at LDI's first ever Texas Hold 'Em Tournament on Saturday evening with all proceeds going to Behind the Scenes, or you can spread some holiday cheer by purchasing Behind the Scenes Holiday Cards at booth #1245.

If raffles, poker, or holidays cards aren't your thing, you can still help meet the ETC Challenge. The volunteers at the Behind the Scenes booth will be delighted to accept your individual or corporate contribution.

Don't leave your colleagues in the dark. Let ETC know their challenge has been heard and answered by an industry that's serious about caring for its own.

Behind the Scenes provides financial assistance to entertainment technology professionals who are seriously ill or injured. Funds may be used for medical expenses, funeral expenses, or basic living expenses. Funds are available to anyone who has worked at least five years full time in the entertainment technology industry—whether they're on the road or in a rental shop; they're a TD or the head of R&D; they work in a theatre, or on a cruise ship.
