Heavenly Lighting Solutions by Tomcat

Earlier this year Tomcat USA completed a project with Texas Scenic for Houston Baptist Church.
For its part, Tomcat fabricated two connected truss circles designed to hang over a cross in the sanctuary like two halos. The circles were hard wired internally for lighting and future expansion. One element of the design meant that the truss had to be covered on three sides with plywood. This was taken care of by in-house carpenters at Tomcat and once it was installed at the church, a local contractor painted them and performed other finishing work.
Further design considerations were taken into account in order to support a projection screen hung from the structure. In addition, support frames were designed and fabricated for nine plexiglas acoustic reflectors (provided by Texas Scenic). After discussion with architects working on this project, Tomcat provided rubber bushings to
keep the frames secure during services and performances and reduce noise and vibration between the frames and reflectors.
One final consideration in creating a “seamless” look was running all the cabling from the truss through the cross down to the floor. In addition to the lighting cable, Tomcat also supplied control cabling for the projection screen mounted on the circles.
