EV Brings Power and Pattern Control to Florida Church
Landmark Audio of Lakeland, Florida recently designed and installed a high-performance, budget-friendly Electro-Voice loudspeaker system solution for Volusia County Baptist Church in Orange City, near Orlando, Florida.
Randy Whitworth of Landmark Audio described the installation: “This is a growing church that recently built a new sanctuary and wanted to upgrade their sound system accordingly. This new room is twice as big as the old one, seating around 1100 people, and they needed sound reinforcement that balanced reverberation control with plenty of power. We modeled everything in EASE, and originally spec’d loudspeakers coupled with acoustic treatments for the side walls and rear of the room. The client elected not to go with the wall treatments, primarily for aesthetic reasons, so we needed to find a loudspeaker with better pattern control, which is how we arrived at EV FRX+ and FRI+. These systems are specifically designed to deliver this kind of performance: we have plenty of gain, great pattern control, and, excellent intelligibility. The church is extremely pleased with the way the room sounds, and so are we!”
The system features a center cluster with one FRX+940 (two-way, 15”, medium throw) flanked by two FRX+181 low frequency boxes. Two additional FRX+940s are flown either side of the main cluster. The outer edge of the room is covered by FRI+122/66 boxes. All the enclosures are finished in white.
