Tomcat 2008 Scholar Announced
At the 2007 LDI Show, Tomcat offered attendees the chance to register to win a scholarship to one of Tomcat USA’s workshops in 2008. Out of a random drawing one lucky winner was selected and that person is … Bobbie Duncan of Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
Universal Studios is, of course, one of the premiere theme parks in the popular vacation destination of Orlando. Bobbie has been with the theme park for about two years working as a lighting technician in the 37 venues throughout the Universal Studios property. She was recently promoted to Lighting Crew Chief so she feels that the opportunity to receive more training will benefit her as well as everyone in her department.
In addition to the thrill of winning the coveted scholarship, Bobbie noted that her colleagues at Universal Studios were more than a little envious. “When everyone heard that I’d get to go to Tomcat’s home for the training, they were even more jealous!”
In response to the ever-changing demands of the entertainment industry, Tomcat is pleased to announce that in 2008 the workshops will feature a new and improved curriculum. For the first time, participants will be able to choose their focus: Rigging & Truss or Chain Motors & Truss – with beginning and advanced training in that area of focus: all in one workshop.
Tomcat also notes that these workshops will be offered twice in 2008. Both sessions will be offered February 20 – 23 as well as June 4-7, 2008 in Midland, Texas.
The June workshops are a benefit to people like Bobbie who are unable to get away from work during the winter. She’s planning to attend a workshop in June – to avoid Universal Studio’s busy season.
