Bandit Lites Finds a Real Fine Place to Start with Sara Evans

Bandit Lites is collaborating with reigning Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist, Sara Evans, for her 2007 spring/summer tour dates. The tour is expected to last through mid-September and will include cities across the United States.

Lighting Designer, Chris Lisle commented on the main concept of the design. “I wanted something classic and romantic,” Lisle explained. “That is where the idea to take curved trusses and flip them 90 degrees came from.”

Lisle’s equipment list includes MAC 500s and 600s, and Chroma-Q Color Blocks- all controlled by a Whole Hog II. He also used four custom screen drops (supplied by Dazian LLC) to provide texture. “Adding the screen fabrics allows me to paint with color and breaks up the monotony of the standard black backdrop,” Lisle added. “Sara’s music has a lot of great “feels” that come along with it, and it was important to come up with looks that accented the music.”

Chris Lisle said that he approached this tour similar to the other tours that he has designed in the sense that most songs only have two colors in each of them. “Using multi colors in the same song can look okay, but can also look ‘muddy.’ I am a big fan of saturated, solid colors,” he said. “Also, on this tour I decided to skip on using the ACL’s that are standard on most of the 120k lighting systems that you walk into. I wanted to try to find more creative ways to catch the punches and hits in a song rather than just flash a pair of ACL’s.”
