Bandit and Acquire the Fire Together Again for 2007 Tour
Bandit Lites recently wrapped up a six-month tour and three stadium events for Acquire the Fire. This is the sixth consecutive year Bandit and ATF have worked together. The tour with Bandit began in Chicago, IL and finished in Tacoma, WA with stadium shows in San Francisco, CA, Detroit, MI and Baltimore, MD. The shows offer a large line-up of bands and speakers. Bands for the 2007 schedule included P.O.D., Sarah Kelly, Flyleaf, Hillsong United, Hawk Nelson, Tye Tribbett, Casting Crowns, Canton Jones, and Unhindered, among others.
The inspirational show is part of Teen Mania Ministries, an organization that ‘aims to provoke a young generation to passionately pursue Jesus Christ and to take his lifegiving message to the ends of the earth.’ Targeting teenagers, Teen Mania’s mission is reflected in the music, lighting and stage design alike.
Between the tour and stadium shows, lighting designer Shawn Worlow used ETC Source Fours, Fresnel 2000s, Martin MAC 2000 Profiles and Washes, Martin MAC 300s, 600s, VL 2500 Spots, Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes and High End Systems Studio Beams. For the tour, lighting was controlled by a Martin Maxxyz.
“The challenge in lighting Acquire the Fire was to design a rig that could be versatile enough to handle both live music and theater elements,” Worlow explained. The live music segments were designed to be big and powerful. Then the atmosphere changed to a much smaller, intimate setting for the theatrical portion of the event. The show also had a substantial video element with video roll-ins as a segway for each portion of the show.
ATF production is co-managed by Jordan Goodfellow and Alex Fuller. “Coming into a show, Bandit has always been great at working with everyone. It isn’t just about lighting, but how lighting can fit into the overall production design,” Goodfellow explains. “I would never go with anyone else.”
Goodfellow also complimented Bandit employee, Brad Rogers. “Brad has been with us for the past four years. He is one of the best people that we have worked with.”
Bandit vice president, Michael Golden, added: “It is apparent that everyone involved in the Acquire the Fire shows are very passionate about their work. It makes for a very positive experience and I am proud to be involved with such a worthy cause.”
