d&b audiotechnik explains all at InfoComm 2007

Ten years is a long time to be trading in the US before exhibiting at InfoComm, but for the German loudspeaker manufacturer d&b audiotechnik, the long term view is taken. "When you produce high quality products it pays to invest time, money and expertise that enables us to know the market we're approaching. We don't want to waste anybody's time and this is a trade fair with national reach," said d&b president Colin Beveridge. "Now was the time for us to make our presence known and we are glad we did."

Visitors to the booth were treated to a neat 5:1 surround system set up using d&b's tiny E0 loudspeakers and their latest ROPE C remote control software for PC platforms. By connecting them via the new d&b R60 USB to CAN interface to d&b D12 and E-PAC amplifiers, access is not only obtained to an expanded remote network, but it becomes possible to control and monitor d&b's loudspeakers in greater detail at the amplifier level. The R60 interface, which is designed to elegantly connect d&b's amplifiers to a PC comes with drivers for WindowsR operating systems. The latest ROPE C software can accommodate up to five R60 interfaces with a maximum of 503 amplifiers (well, you never know) in one system design.

In the demo room listeners were able to hear d&b's Q-Series range of loudspeakers and see why this lightweight, small format line array system is so widely used and accepted throughout the world. Its larger brother, the J-Series was also displayed alongside examples from the C-Series and E-Series conventional loudspeaker systems.

"In the corporate environment, levels of control are refined and absolute," concluded Colin Beveridge. "That's a maxim d&b has always applied to its loudspeaker systems over its twenty-six year history. Now with the latest ROPE C software that level of control can be extended to the armchair of the sound operator, so he or she can remotely finesse the system. It's a facility of which we're extremely proud, and one we believe corporate users will understand and embrace."
