Job Title: Chief Executive, Bandit UK

Lester Cobrin is currently the chief executive of Bandit Lites' UK operations. As chief executive, Cobrin is directly responsible and accountable for the financial health and well-being of the firm. He oversees all legal and accounting operations on a daily basis. At the same time, Cobrin strives to achieve all goals and targets by generating and improving existing revenue streams. Below are a few questions we asked to get to know him a little better.

Q. How did you get involved in this industry?

A.. Like many others, I was in the right place at the right time. I began my career in the entertainment industry in 1991 working at Samuelson Concert Productions and Theatre Projects. Starting on the shop floor, I moved into company purchasing and sales and later into client management. I covered a variety of projects while acting as client manager, including touring shows to corporate events and everything in between. In 1997, I joined Light & Sound Design and began to build a substantial client base within the concert touring, special events, corporate and theatre market sectors. While there, I also had the opportunity to get hands-on experience as a lighting technician and production manager on various shows and tours. I joined Bandit Lites in 2004, after a mutual friend told me that Bandit was looking to hire a business development manager.

Q. How has your job changed or evolved over the years?

A. I joined Bandit Lites as a business development manager and I'm currently the chief executive. One thing that hasn't changed, despite different positions within the company, is that it is paramount that I maintain consistent contact with all clients and colleagues across the globe. The main difference between my previous and current jobs is that now I am heavily involved in the legal and accounting aspects of the business.

Q. What is the best part about working for Bandit Lites?

A. The best part is definitely the wonderful team of people. It's a great environment and really inspiring to be surrounded by passionate, enthusiastic people that have a genuine hunger and desire to succeed.

Q. If you were not working for Bandit, what would you be doing?

A. I would be a designer... a hair designer for the rich and famous.

Q. What is the biggest challenge you face in your job?

A. The biggest challenge is to increase gross revenue, increase net profit and reduce direct costs and overhead, which then equates to being able to invest in new equipment and create more job opportunities, thus giving everyone at Bandit a better quality of life and standard of living. The other challenge is maintaining the passion, enthusiasm, hunger and attention to detail within Bandit.
