Bandit Lights University of Tennessee Business Administration Building Grand Opening

Bandit Lites recently lit an invitation-only dinner, funded entirely through private donations, which was held to celebrate the completion of the new University of Tennessee College of Business Administration facility.
The new six-floor, 174,000-square-foot building at the corner of Andy Holt Avenue and Volunteer Boulevard houses 34 classrooms, more than 50 offices for staff and administration, 35 team and presentations rooms, a technology center, an investment center and an atrium with a glass elevator. Construction on the building began in November 2005. The project cost about $46 million and was funded by the state and private dollars.
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Business Administration has named its new, state-of-the-art building after Jim Haslam, founder and chairman of the board of Pilot Travel Centers LLC and chairman of the board and president of Pilot Corp.
Haslam and his wife, Natalie, both 1952 graduates of the University of Tennessee, donated $7.5 million to the College of Business Administration. The money is part of
$38.2 million the couple has given to UT's $1 billion capital campaign, the Campaign for Tennessee, of which they are co-chairs.
Lighting designer, Shawn Beaulieu chose to use ETC Source 4s, Martin MAC 2000 washes, Vari*Lite 3000 Spots and Coemar LED Pars to light the event. Lighting was controlled by a Flying Pig Systems Whole Hog II.
Beaulieu used MAC 2000s to provide an amber wash that highlighted the outside architecture of the new building. Par 64s were used to illuminate the entranceway of the building, which was designed to mirror the central archway of the old building. He added VL 3000s to create a searchlight effect at the entrance.
Inside, LED pars were used to provide ambient lighting on the ceiling. Lekos with custom UT gobos were projected onto the walls. For mood lighting, Beaulieu chose to project lekos with foliage breakup patterns on the tables and floors.
Bandit employee, Giff Swart was project manager and crew chief on this project. Bandit Chairman, Michael T. Strickland took part in the festivities. As a member of the Development Council at the University of Tennessee, Strickland is a vital part of the College of Business Administrations efforts.
