Steve Sweet joins Theatre Projects
Theatre Project Consultants, Inc (TPC) has welcomed Steve Sweet to their technical production team.
Steve brings over 20 years of experience as a technical director, rigging installer, and stage manager. His responsibilities at Theatre Projects focus on the design and selection of performance equipment components such as stage machinery, rigging, lifts, and platforms, as well as field work and commissioning for building quality control of the theatrical function.
Steve was first introduced to Theatre Projects at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts (Columbus, GA) in 2001 where he was assistant project manager/technical director. He and Theatre Projects worked closely during the final year of construction on the new facility.
“Coming to work for Theatre Projects is the perfect evolution in my career. I’ve been aware of the great work Theatre Projects does since my days as a rigging installer. But, I really got to know how much their work helps the users of performing arts facilities when I opened RiverCenter as the Technical Director. I’m extremely excited to be a part of this incredible team of people.”
Steve joins TPC after seven years as technical director at the RiverCenter. Prior to RiverCenter, Steve worked as a national freelance rigger and spent multiple years as the production operations stage manager for the Palace Theater in Myrtle Beach, SC. During his time at the Palace Theater, he coordinated daily technical aspects of shows with the technical director and visiting productions as well as working with talent management for many successful acts, including: Ringo Starr, Bolshoi Ballet, Cats, Leeann Rimes, West Side Story, Bill Cosby, Carol Burnett, and Liza Minnelli.
Steve is an ETCP (Entertainment Technician Certification Program) certified rigger.
