Bandit Lights Orange Carpet for Second Annual Volscars Awards Banquet
Bandit Lites recently provided lighting for the second annual Volscars. Athletes, coaches and staff members gathered for the gala affair held at the Knoxville Convention Center on April 21, 2008.
The concept for the Volscars was developed by the Student Athlete-Advisory
Committee (SAAC) as a way to showcase and celebrate the accomplishments of both the men's and women's athletic departments. The event is a sports award show modeled after the ESPYs.
Tennessee student-athletes began the evening on the "orange" carpet with media interviews in true Hollywood style, followed by a dinner and awards show. Awards were presented for a variety of categories including Lady Vol Coach of the Year, Lady Vol Team of the Year, Female MVP, Female Rookie of the Year, Men's Coach of the Year, Male MVP Award, Male Big Orange Award, Male Team Award, Male Rookie of the Year, Best TV Moment and Best Comeback Game, among others.
Bandit CEO, Michael T. Strickland, was a guest of the event and sat at a table with Lady Vols Basketball Coach, Pat Summit, Head Football coach, Phillip Fulmer, Men's Basketball Coach, Bruce Pearl, Athletic Director, Mike Hamilton and his wife Beth as well as Women's Athletic Director, Joan Cronan.
Lighting Designer, Will Twork used a combination of Martin MAC 2000 Performances, MAC 500s, High End Systems Studio Colors, A.C. Lighting Chroma-Q Color Webs, Coemar LED Pars and ETC Source Fours to light the event, all controlled by a Whole Hog II.
The event, which included an Orange Carpet section, resembled that of the Oscars or Grammy Award Shows. Chroma-Q Color Webs were added to provide a ‘glam factor' to the show. MAC 500s with custom Power T and Lady Vols gobos were projected on the walls and ceiling to provide backlight for the room.
