Community iBOX to the Rescue
It's been said that everything happens for a reason, and sometimes the most innocuous occurrences can make a world of a difference. When Adlai Stevenson High School's auditorium was up for a new sound system as part of a remodelling, KLA Laboratories of Dearborn Michigan was awarded the contract to provide and install the system designed by BAI of Austin Texas. Russ Gregory, KLA Laboratories' sales engineer, drew up a system design based on components he knew and trusted.
"As it happened, the manufacturer was unable to provide the loudspeakers we wanted in time," Gregory recounts. "The project involved coordinating with various other trades people, and we were working to a fairly tight schedule."
In need of a viable alternative, Gregory opted to try out Community's iBOX Series, designing the distributed system around four iHP-1566 and four iHP-1564 large format two-way 15-inch cabinets. A single i215S dual 15-inch subwoofer handles low frequency coverage.
"It was actually the subwoofer that caught my attention first," Gregory observes. "Not many companies make an affordable dual-15 sub. And I had heard good things about Community's products, so we decided to give the iBOX system a try."
The result, Gregory reports, has been overwhelmingly positive. "I had no doubt it would sound good, but the iBOX really exceeded my expectations. It's got power and intelligibility, and sounds absolutely great. The iBOX will definitely become one of my new go-to boxes."
