World renowned Cognac maker Remy Martin was ready to launch a very prestigious V.S.O.P cognac in April. They knew that this called for something very special indeed as the bottle and packaging were designed by the famous photographer David LaChapelle. So Remy Martin wisely picked a very experienced producer in Leslie Short from K.I.M. Media in New York.

Leslie had worked closely with them before and had a clear vision as to what Remy Martin needed to make this David LaChappelle design "come alive" for the premier event. Come alive is exactly what she did as various elements of LaChapelle's design were actually brought to life during the premier party.

"It had to be exciting and special" was her directive from Remy Martin. Short knew she needed a production partner who could technically bring their skills to provide her with the resources she needed for this event. The debut of an extraordinary cognac calls for an extraordinary event to dramatize its unveiling. Leslie had heard of ShowPro and knew of their credentials in the special event industry. She knew she had found the right production company in them.

Jim Gordon, director of marketing for ShowPro states: "Leslie had such a truly grand and focused vision on how she wanted to build the evening for the invited guests plus unveil and introduce the David LaChapelle design for Remy Martin. The bottle and packaging design by David LaChapelle was highly colorful and unique giving Leslie an opportunity to incorporate the multi-color scheme from Mr. LaChapelle's design into the live event.

"Our team at ShowPro immediately went to work with lighting designer Matt Levesque of firstcircle.  David Smith of ShowPro really embraced the project and was able to provide a substantial amount of various technologies for Levesque to use in his lighting design. We used many types of lighting and LED technology mainly from Elation Professional to provide many varied and stunning looks throughout the evening. Matt had a wonderful palate to work with and a wide array of resources to turn the soundstage at SmashBox Studio into a well thought out, planned and executed event for the 300 guests in attendance at Smashbox Studios in West Hollywood. The premier event was very well produced with truly stunning sensory effects that filled the all-white room, which served as a neutral backdrop for a brilliant multicolor light show."

Levesque offered this insight to design: "The lighting design for the Remy-Martin Event was centered around the main party concept for several specific color and mood changes to match the type of drink from Remy Martin served to the guests throughout the evening, culminating into a crazy multi-color dance party mix by the end. The entire environment needed to have the capability to change completely. Moving and color-changing lights, low resolution LED screens, and high-resolution projections allowed the design to evolve with the progression and color scheme of the party. The ultimate effect was that of a sleek, contemporary club lounge with a dynamic atmosphere that flowed with the DJ's high tempo music."

The colors that the combination of lighting, scenic projection and LED technology provided in the event environment completely changed hourly in each phase of the event to create a growing sense of excitement, leading up to the cognac's introduction. Beginning with a green palette in the room to complement the canopy of palm trees at the jungle-themed entranceway, the colors shifted to blue, then dramatic red for the revelation of the bottle by an actress who totally captured the look of the woman prominently featured on LaChapelle's design. Finally, the space burst into multi-color lighting and scenic looks on the white cyc for the after-party. Even the cocktail bars were translucent to allow colored light to shine through them with LED panels.

Producer Leslie Short was delighted with the comprehensive production design and teamwork by ShowPro and firstcircle to technically and creatively support her concept and vision that led up to the unveiling of the LaChappelle limited edition cognac. The guests loved every moment and phase of the premier. They were totally immersed in the multi-media environment throughout the whole evening surrounded by music, lights, LED displays, stages, sleek lounges and scenic projections. This made for a very successful premier and a huge technical success for ShowPro.
