Bandit Donates Lighting for Make-a-Wish Foundation Fundraiser Event

Bandit Lites recently donated lighting to support Waltz for Wishes, an East Tennessee Make-A-Wish Foundation Fundraiser. Held at the Knoxville Convention Center, the 4th Annual event raised over $143,000, of which all proceeds benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation in East, Tennessee.
The black tie event started with a silent auction, followed by dinner. After dinner, sponsors were recognized, the ‘Volunteer of the Year' was announced and several wish recipients and their families shared their experiences. A live auction followed including items such as tickets to the CMA Awards and the PGA Tour as well as a military flag that had been flown in Afghanistan. Also during the live auction, two children with life-threatening illnesses got up on stage to tell their stories and describe their ideal wish.
The wishes were later auctioned off, ensuring that their wishes would come true. The evening came to a close after dancing to a live band.
Lighting Designer, Jason Workman, primarily chose to use Martin MAC 2000 Performances, High End Systems Studio Colors and ETC Source 4 Lekos to light the event. Lighting was controlled by an AVO Diamond IV. The High End Systems Studio Colors were used to provide saturated color for the room. Workman added Martin MAC 2000 Profiles with custom Make-A-Wish gobos to create texture on the walls.
The event's chairperson (also Make-A-Wish Foundation Board Director for the East Tennessee Chapter), Ken Shull said that the lighting played a significant role in the event's overall success. "Bandit makes the gala," Shull commented. "It's incredible the difference Bandit has made in the last two years. Everybody talks about the lighting. I can't thank Michael [Strickland] and JR [Sander] enough for what they're willing and able to do."
Giff Swart was project manager and lighting technician, Marcus Wade rounded out the Bandit crew.
Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation's mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wish ® experience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 161,000 children around the world.
