Community's VERIS Gets the Message Across
It's not just larger houses of worship that face issues of acoustics and intelligibility. Clearwater, Florida's Countryside Baptist Church has long battled with sonic challenges in their 300-seat sanctuary, largely due to the venue's somewhat unconventional design.
"The church's main seating area sounds pretty good," observes Steve Jones of Tampa-based Technical Resource Group (TRG), the company behind the venue's new audio system. "But they've got two rear seating areas and two side seating areas, both under lower ceilings, and those areas have always suffered from decreased intelligibility."
TRG designed a new audio system for the church utilizing Community's new VERIS (VERsatile Installation Systems) loudspeakers. The main seating area is covered by two VERIS 32-64 12-inch three-way full-range cabinets, along with a pair of VERIS 12-64 two-way twelve-inch boxes for delays. The side and rear seating areas are covered by six VERIS 6 single six-inch two-way systems. A pair of VERIS 212S dual twelve-inch subwoofers are floor-mounted at either side of the stage. The system is powered by Crown XTI-Series amplification, with Rane RPM-Series processing.
Jones points out that the church and congregation are exceptionally pleased with the results. "Several congregants have commented on how much better it sounds," he concludes. "The VERIS speakers were much lighter than we expected, which made it all the more impressive
when we heard how good they sounded."
