J. R. Clancy Offers Free Rigging Data Slide Rule
For the twentieth consecutive year, J. R. Clancy offers its Rigging Data Slide Rule for free to rigging technology dealers and installers in the entertainment technology industry. The newly revised sixth edition of the Clancy Slide Rule is now available.
The Rigging Data Slide Rule, an easy-to-use, shirt-pocket tool, provides instant calculations for the following critical ratios and measurements used in rigging installation: general rigging data for sheave pitch diameter, quantity of clips, turnback, torque, cable breaking strength and Nicopress sleeve required, all based on cable diameter; fleet angle offsets in inches, based on the fleet angle degree; counterweight in pounds, based on the width of the weight and whether the weight is made of steel, iron or lead; three-phase motor current draw in amps; allowable batten loads, based on the span between lines; recommended working loads (RWLs), based on sheave size in inches; spacing and maximum load of stage curtain tracks by J. R. Clancy model number; average breaking strength of stage ropes, calculated for the diameter of the rope; the estimated weight of stage fabrics, including velour, polyester, linen, cotton, muslin and more.
“Our slide rule grows in popularity every year, because it provides the kind of information installers and operators need to keep their rigging systems as safe as possible, and in top working order,” said Tom Young, J. R. Clancy vice president of marketing. “By making this quick reference tool available for free, we put information about actual weight and safe load capacities into the hands of those to whom this knowledge is most important.”
To order one slide rule or a quantity, visit www.jrclancy.com and click on “Slide Rule” on the home page. Orders must include the quantity of slide rules required, and a “classic” mailing address.
