Alcons Introduces LR14/90 Line-Array

Previewed at Frankfurt's ProLight+Sound, Alcons is now shipping its LR14/90 pro-ribbon line-array. The LR14/90 is a passive two-way ultra-compact line-array module, to be used in vertical stacked or flown arrays. The very compact design and a maximum SPL of 130dB+ per unit makes the LR14/90 the ideal system for small to medium-sized applications. In particular, the throw and even coverage redefine standards in this category.
In a relative short period of time, the LR14/120 has gained a formidable reputation for its unprecedented throw and sound quality in both rental and installation reference applications worldwide; Now, with the addition of the 90°x15° version, the LR14 system offers even more flexibility and tailored projection.
As Alcons' signature, the LR14/90 uses Alcons' proprietary pro-ribbon technology for MHF reproduction. The unusually high 800W peak power handling and crystal-clear response of the RBN401 pro-ribbon driver enables a true HiFi sound reproduction at concert SPL's.
The patented Real-90 dispersion in combination with the "Morpher" lens in the newly developed Alutec wave-guide of the RBN401, brings the active frontal radiation of the LR14/90 up to 94% for an absolute "spike-less" vertical dispersion, while offering a very precise horizontal projection.
The frequencies below 1kHz are taken care of by two 6.5" Neodymium mid-bass drivers, making the system real full-range in most applications with its lowest usable frequency being 51Hz. Special attention has been paid to the woofer/reflex-port combination, for extended LF output despite the system's ultra-compact size. The total system weight is a mere 15kg/33 lb.
The LR14 comes with a completely integrated flying system, without any separate/loose parts and has a very high safety-rating of 10:1 with 24 cabinets. The Alcons line-arrays have one of the fastest deployable rigging systems on the market.
The new Alcons Ribbon Calculator (ARC) simulation software is based on actual system measurement output data and calculates positions in 15 steps of 1 degree. ARC offers extensive project information (response at 21 frequencies, absolute/relative performance, a.o.) and can be used through the "auto-splay" function and manually.
As with all Alcons systems, the LR14 is SIS pre-wired and signal integrity sensing ensures complete cable/connector compensation between the LR14 and ALC (damping factor of 10.000) resulting in tight and accurate mid and bass response. SIS also further reduces distortion.
The system comes in Durotect finishing and is covered by a six-year limited warranty.
