Bandit Lights U.S. Air Force Prestigious Award Ceremony

Bandit Lites recently had the privilege of lighting the Order of the Sword ceremony at the McGee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Knoxville, TN. General Craig R. McKinley was honored at the formal award ceremony, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the enlisted corps. The Order of the Sword is an honor awarded within the U.S. Air Force.
Since receiving his commission in 1974, General Craig R. McKinley served in numerous assignments in flying and operations, as well as command positions at group, wing, sector and field operating agency levels. General McKinley is currently Chief, National Guard Bureau, a joint activity of the Department of Defense, Arlington, Va. Prior to his current assignment, General McKinley served as Director of the Air National Guard.
To light the event, lighting designer Will Twork primarily chose to use Martin MAC 500s, MAC 2000 Washes, Performances and Profiles, Coemar iWash Halos, Chroma-Q Color Web Panels, and Color Kinetic I-Color Accents. Lighting was controlled by a Whole Hog II and wing.
The Color Kinetic I-Colors were used to rim the stage with color. Twork used the Martin MAC 2000 Performances to provide an American flag theme with American flag stars and stripes gobos. The Martin MAC 2000 Washes lit the runway up to the stage while he used Martin MAC 500s to backlight the sword and sword barer. Twork chose the Coemar iWash Halos as it provides a warm tungsten light source, ideal for film and video content.
Twork added that he placed Chroma-Q Color Web Panels around the video screens on either side of the stage to break up the black background and add more visual depth to the overall design.
"In my first armed forces lighting event, I had the opportunity to light a 3-star (awarded 4thstar since the event) General," Will Twork commented. "It was a privilege to light such a prestigious event."
Bandit employee, Giff Swart served as crew chief for the event.
